Desktop/Network Support Engineer The desktop/network support engineer is part of the IT support team providing Tier II and Tier III level software, hardware, and network support to end-users. He or she is responsible for addressing customer support calls for IT related problems, providing call resolution and managing client network infrastructures as per contracted SLA (service level agreement). Job Duties Include: - Provide ad-hoc IT maintenance support, troubleshoot, monitor and resolve desktop PC issues remotely
- Proactively manage and setup client network infrastructures
- PC setup, re-image, hand load OS, application installation and software break/fix for PCs
- Add new systems to the backup / restore environment as required
- Adjust and maintain backup / restore job or script to correct or prevent problems
- Provide support of media management software applications
- Provide general LAN/WAN administration tasks
- Performs hardware and software evaluations and make recommendations
- Performs application compatibility / interoperability testing / application packaging
- Performance Tuning and Monitoring for the desktop and laptop environment
- Develop and maintain documentation required to support the Windows desktop and laptop infrastructure
Requirements:
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Microsoft certification (MCP) required
- MCSE certification preferred
- Must have experience utilizing remote control software to troubleshoot and resolve PC desktop support issues. Strong customer management skills.
- Minimum five years experience in a desktop and workstation end-user support environment.
- Understanding of network infrastructure environment (ie LAN/WAN)
- Degree in computer science, management information systems or similar preferred
- Experience supporting Windows 2000/XP Pro/Vista and Windows 2003/2007
- Experienced in deploying OS installation via scripted, unattended methods, Sysprep, and other imaging methods.
- Microsoft Business Desktop Deployment skills very desirable
